Car Stories – Duesenberg Model J

Car Stories – Duesenberg Model J

This year’s show treated customers to a brand-new curated feature – Car Stories. The Car Stories stage celebrated nine of the world’s most iconic and interesting cars, all with an incredible story to tell and hosted by motoring expert Max Girardo. Throughout the weekend, the Car Stories Stage welcomed personalities from the industry, including designers, racing drivers and owners, delving into the rich history of these special vehicles with the help of those that know them best.

with Bradley Mauger

We were also lucky enough to be joined by Bradley Mauger from the Haynes International Motor Museum, where the Duesenberg Model J is currently housed and  Bradley oversees much of the collection.

Bradley joined Max to discuss the Model J, which was launched in December 1928 and features a 6.9-litre straight-8, with twin-overhead-camshafts and four valves per cylinder, which produced 265bhp – twice the output of any other American car of its time. Father of the Haynes Manual concept and founder of Haynes International Motor Museum, John Haynes OBE, fell in love with Duesenbergs at a young age. He vowed to have one and added this example to his collection in 1993.
